EXPERIENCE

Leadership Is Hospitality

Leadership is the felt experience of those you lead.

My favorite word is welcome.

I’ve loved that word since I was nine years old. My manifesto back then was simple: Who can I make friends with today? I looked at the world like everyone was a welcome guest at my party.

Honestly, that hasn’t changed.

What has changed is how deeply I understand why it matters.

Early in my career as a Les Clefs d’Or concierge, I had a GM named Mr. W. Every morning he’d walk into the lobby, give me a nod, scan the room, and every once in a while walk straight to my desk and place something in front of me, like a quarter-of-a-Post-it-sized piece of paper I had missed in the vast lobby.

I was mortified.

I took enormous pride in my ability to notice the smallest details, the needs and emotions of guests.

But I never forgot it.

That hotel became the number one hotel in the country. Not because of the brand name, the marble floors, or the grandeur, but because of what he taught us to see that everyone else walked past, talked past, and thought past.

Over the years, I built a career inside high-performance environments from hospitality to enterprise technology while also training for endurance races and creating art. Different worlds, same lesson: what you notice shapes your experience and how people experience you.

Years later, I started studying mindfulness with a former Buddhist monk and realized that the smallest details aren’t always in the room.

Sometimes they’re in our own minds.

The assumptions we’re making. The stories we’re creating before someone even speaks. The meaning we’re assigning in real time without realizing it.

Noticing those details can change everything.

This is what I bring into every room I speak in.

Through keynote experiences that blend storytelling, visual artistry, mindfulness, audience interaction, and operational leadership insight, I help leaders create cultures where people feel seen, valued, connected, and motivated to stay.

Because leadership is a felt experience.

People don’t evaluate you first. They feel you first. Your presence. Your attention. Your welcome. Your ability to make people feel anchored when everything around them is moving fast.

In a world addicted to busyness and increasingly outsourcing its thinking to machines, presence is becoming rare.

And the ability to observe and notice nuances no bigger than a quarter of a Post-it note is becoming a superpower.

I’m an international keynote speaker, pop artist, mindfulness educator, and author of Weird Girl Adventures from A to Z. My work has reached audiences from corporate boardrooms to the NBA, exploring the intersection of leadership, hospitality, culture, and human connection.

When I’m not on stage, you’ll usually find me in downtown Chicago with a giant coffee in hand, painting, blasting rock music from every decade of my life, or chasing adventures with my dog-child, Solo.

The future belongs to those who notice.

Leadership is the felt experience of those you lead.
